PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE: JEFF WATSON
It has been a long haul through the winter months. Let us all hope that Spring has arrived!! Let’s gather our
friends and hit the links! We are planning a big spring and summer, including some exciting junior golf
activities for the youngsters who are the future of our Club and our sport. Please keep your eyes open and
your ear to the ground for more members and more people who want to enjoy the great times and fellowship
that we get to enjoy at Kerr Lake Country Club.
This summer will mark a transition period for KLCC as Sonny Freeman has decided to transition towards a
much deserved retirement. Tommy Abbott will take a more prominent role in maintaining the golf course.
Please support our Grounds Crew as they do an excellent job under significant financial restraints. We are
lucky to have these men at KLCC! Also, do not hesitate to pick out an area of the course and improve it in
any way that you can.
Also, a HUGE thanks goes out to Johnny Riggan, Ronnie Perkinson, and Skeet Garrett for the removal of
the pin oak on #8. It’s removal will be a tremendous help to that hole and we continue to be grateful to those
gentlemen for all their help in removing nuisance trees. Also, thanks to John Foran for negotiating the
removal of the stump from that tree. The amount of work involved, compared to the amount of time until all
of it was gone, including the stump, was simply amazing. Thanks Guys!
Get out and play!

FINANCE COMMITTEE: TONY FERENS
Several months of great golf weather is ahead of us. Thanks to the customers that braved the less than ideal
golf weather over the last two months. It is very appreciated. I would like to ask members that would like to
alter their membership type in any way to please put that in writing. Please include the effective date in the
letter/email. This will help the Club get accurate information for our invoicing. This includes changes in billing
frequency, family vs. single, trail fees, cart storage, etc. Also note that the rates for these services that KLCC
provides are based on an annual rate divided by the payment frequency. A proposal will be put forth at our
next Board Meeting to add an option to our membership menu for a shorter time period of one year. For
membership, trail fees, cart storage, etc.
GROUNDS COMMITTEE: MIKE NORWOOD
As Spring begins, the crew is transitioning into grow mode. Lots of pre-emergent chemicals are being
sprayed. The greens are healing quickly from aeration, and should be rolling pretty in another week. We ask
that you bear with the fairways as the Bermuda needs hot air to get rolling. In the interim, we will keep the
fairways as protected as possible, but cannot achieve this without the help of our membership. Sonny,
Tommy and Oscar are working with Frank Hester on some ideas to help the fairway grass expand into and
cover some of these washed out and rocky areas that are creeping around the course.
TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE: TOMMY OVERCASH
With Spring finally “Sprung”, the tournaments will now begin to roll throughout the year. First up is the Spring
Member-Member. This is a one day event on April 20th. Please go by the Pro Shop or call Michael to sign
up. Our first large tournament will be the Men’s Invitational on May 18th and 19th. The tournament committee
is currently crunching numbers to maximize payouts for this tournament in an effort to draw a nice group
from outside the club to complement our member participation. We have a full slate of tournaments this
year, and are also working on adding a few other tournaments to the schedule as well. If any members are
interested in being a part of the Tournament Committee, please feel free to email me at
t_overcash80@hotmail.com or call the Pro Shop.
POOL COMMITTEE: RANDY OWEN
We will be in the process over the next month or so in getting the pool ready to open. We are planning on
having it open on Memorial Day Weekend. Stay tuned!
ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE: RANDY OWEN
A cookout, corn hole tournament and pool party is in the works for May. STAY TUNED!

The following rule has been deleted from the Rules and Regulations of KLCC per the Board of Directors:
